Drug use in ancient Rome

New finds from a Scythian grave confirm the use of both opium and cannabis. I knew it!

You’ll recall, if you’ve read Dominus, that opiates and cannabis/hash oil are mentioned: Allerix was drugged with opiates before being carted out of Rome; Gaius ingests cannabis… for health reasons. 😀

Here’s the Nat Geo article on the Scythian discoveries, which are amazing for many reasons: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/05/150522-scythians-marijuana-bastard-wars-kurgan-archaeology/

And here’s a link to a controversial book that only reinforced my decision to include cannabis (opiates seemed fairly obvious): http://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Muse-Roots-Western-Civilization-ebook/dp/B00MLLZQ0U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1432500585&sr=8-1&keywords=Chemical+muse
